*Jamdani Woven Patterns

Originating from Bengal in northeastern India, using fine cotton yarn and woven on traditional handlooms. Weavers intricately interlace the yarn into the delicate base fabric, creating intricate and soft patterns. Known for its complexity and elegance, Jamdani features scattered or diagonal floral motifs, with identical patterns on both sides of the fabric. Traditionally used in the sarees worn by women in India and Bengal, it was once exclusively reserved for royal nobility, acclaimed for its ethereal lightness and clarity. Recognized for its exceptional craftsmanship and artistic value, Jamdani weaving has been inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
