Served as a specimen management position at the Swedish Museum of Natural History (Regnellian Amanuensis), assistant at Bergianska Botanical Garden, and lecturer in natural history and physics at the Latin School. In 1892, he went to Brazil and Paraguay for expedition and investigation. After returning to Sweden, he resumed the post of lecturer and served as the teacher of the crown prince from 1896 to 1900.
