Description

The NAGAR Dress from Khadi and Co is crafted from handwoven Khadi cotton in a beautiful lavender tone. The fabric, woven in Andhra Pradesh, India, features natural slubs and soft texture—hallmarks of artisanal craftsmanship.

The pleated structure adds light volume to the silhouette, while the front closure with fabric-covered buttons offers two styling options: buttoned for a structured look, or open for a casual layered feel. Long sleeves gently cover the hands for both elegance and sun protection. Lightweight and breathable, this dress softens beautifully over time, making it ideal for daily wear or travel.

*Due to its handmade nature, slight slubs or irregularities are part of the charm of Khadi fabric.

*Naturally dyed fabric—please wash separately with mild detergent. Avoid bleach and optical brighteners.

ーHandmade in Indiaー

Khadi & Co by Bess Nielsen –

“Along a barely defined road in northern Benga, deep in the dense jungle some 200km from Calcutta, is a land where fig and banana trees and coconut palms border the shimmering oxbows of the Ganges. In a clearing near a village of ancient earth houses with palm-leaf roofs, you come across a cooperative where peasant farmers arrive on bicycles, brining lengths of silk and cotton cloth that have been woven on the looms in their villages.

Danish textile designer Bess Nielsen works with these people, making use of their techniques, which have changed little in the past 4000 years, and dividing her time between Paris and various parts of India – from Kerala to Nagaland, Rajasthan to Bengal.”
